Here's some nodal thinking: turning right from the north entrance, I can
walk from Horn Terrace senior highrise to White Castle, the Family Practice
Clinic (for whatever can't be handled at the weekly onsite walk-in clinic),
my dentist at 27th and Nicollet, IGA SuperValu, KMart, Blockbuster, the new
Chinese place, Office Max, Radio Shack, Cost Cutters, The Dollar Store, a
Chinese takeout, a bakery, a sandwich shop, Payless Shoes, a 24-hr. gas
station, and the Post Office. Turning left, there's Walgreens, a Hispanic
restaurant, a Hispanic grocery store, Wendy's, Popeye's and a bit longer but
eminently little-old-lady-shopping-cart doable and good exercise to boot:
TCF, Kinko's, the library and Rainbow among other Uptown destinations and a
bunch of other nearby possibilities along Lake and Lyndale. Or I can stay
home with congregate dining and laundry facilities, cable, my DSL
connection, and my good friend Mr. Honey (the cat). Or I can get on the bus
that stops right outside the north entrance and go to all sorts of
destinations on a dollar bill. Works for me.
