Dyna,

I was wondering the same thing about Eva's interest in trying to improve the DFL
endorsement process when she is a self identified Republican. What Eva and so many
other folks have a hard time accepting is that a group of individuals can join
together and form a political party and operate under any rules they want to agree
to. Isn't this what America is all about? Freedom of association.

The DFL Party is open to anyone that wants to join that subscribes to DFL Party
principles and votes for DFL candidates. But if you don't consider yourself a DFL you
don't get a say in how we run OUR party. I think that's a reasonable expectation for
a political party to operate under.

In response to Eva's attempt to stir the DFL pot with regard to questioning the
need for there to be a Stonewall Caucus within the DFL. I don't know about the
Republicans but DFL'ers, contrary to the way we are portrayed by the loyal
opposition, do not hold uniform views with regard to every political issue. We are a
coalition party that appeals to people from all walks of life. Following Eva's logic
there would be no need for labor unions to caucus in the DFL tent because all DFL'ers
support labor's political agenda. Caucuses serve a number of functions within the
DFL, they educate, they prioritize, and they organize to name a few.

I don't mind reading Eva's views on how we DFL'ers run our party, however I think her
efforts would be better spent recruiting a Republican candidate for mayor of
Minneapolis rather then trying to incite unrest within the Minneapolis DFL Party.
The DFL is giving it's members a choice of candidates for mayor like a viable
political party should. Can the Republicans say the same?

Eva, I suspect that as a Republican you'd just as soon
encourage the Democrats to fight amongst themselves.
