A few days ago I put up a general inquiry about "A City for Neighbors"
and received several very helpful responses, both on-list and privately.
As to ownership, I can report the following. The "City Council Report
Card" mailing listed one Joseph Barisonzi as a cochair of the "A City for
Neighbors" Committee. A mailing from the Dan Niziolek campaign committee
listed the same person as treasurer. As much as I like Dan I just have
to fret that his campaign and the "A City...." committee is too closely
linked for comfort. I feel Dan has to either accept that the report card
and the "A City..." thing are integral parts of his campaign OR disavow
the "A City..." thing and remove all inter-links. The idea of having
report cards on legislating bodies helps to foster accountability, but
they need to be thoroughly independent of campaigns. If not, things can
backfire and all the good a report card does gets tarnished and
diminished. Readers of this list - fire away.
