I think 3rd ward would be a very interesting place to run a Republican
candidate. I have a number of friends in the area who are Dems (yes, some
of my best friends are Dems), who would be willing to support a Republican
candidate, provided that the candidate is not a nut on social issues (ie:
an Arne Carlson or Kathleen Blatz type as opposed to an Alan Quist or Renee
LaVoi type.)
Joe Biernat gets campaign contributions from the neighborhood bars on 4th
St. Neighbors have videotaped illegal and anti-social behavior of bar
patrons--including swirving around eratically when driving away, peeing on
neighbors lawns, barfing on peoples lawns. Neighbors brought this video
tape to the police in the precinct. As I understand it, they started to
work on this, but were stopped from on high--Biernat putting the kabash on
this.
