For what it's worth, as a distant observer from St. Paul and an accused
"lurker", this forum is not making public policy. Granted it may influence
public policy, but it will never make it. To want to use "democratic"
principles to a list serve such as this is almost ludicrous. Do any of you
get to debate being kicked off a Mpls bus if you are arguing, using inflamed
language, fighting, etc? NO...You may get to appeal to a dispute
department, but you still get kicked off.

The analogies can go on and on...

Whether or not we agree with what David does in term of List Management, he
is the List Manager and there is a board to appeal to when management is
questioned. In a true "democracy", if you disagree with what you think is
tyranny, you branch off on your own, expound your ideas to the masses, and
let your ideas win. Not to be confused with fascism.

Democracy happens here on this forum, it can't be run democratically. There
should be a distinction between that. The list focus would completely
deviate it's intent. Everyone would be discussing management issues, and,
almost have your board meetings on-line. As Mr. Brauer has always said,
"People would leave this forum." I certainly would...

I spirit,

Darren
