I have enjoyed Bert Black's New YOrk notes on multi-parties. I personally
find it very intriguing to study since I basically believe in something
different than two parties.

And I appreciate the dialogue of the past few weeks and admire some of my
dearest and oldest DFL friends and how they have stuck to their principles
about the competitiveness of political power in our country and the loyalty
necessary to which every party you choose.

But the most salient piece of information in Bert's lastest post is about
former CC #9 Tony Scallon. May I remind folks that I have had my share of
run-in's with Tony since the mid-80's during his rise to power including
his floor battle at the last city convention which pulled a quorum count
and ended the convention without two slots on the Park Board at-large with
out DFL endorsed candidates. (Editor's note: This could be one of the
cracks in the wall which has led to much of our debate the past few weeks).
Tony helped build Hwy.55, wanted to build a garbage transfer station in my
neighborhood, and Tony has shaped and molded how business is done in
Minneapolis today.

Now Tony is doing good things. He is teaching ( and I hear is a great
teacher) and may be even is a Principal or something now at one of the
Charter Schools - I don't remember which one. So now that Tony is off doing
other things maybe it's time we try to clean up some of the messes he left
behind.
