First this thread is predicated on erroneous
information. The Mayor DID testify and STRONGLY
against racial profiling at the first hearing on
Racial Profiling at the MN State Legislature. I
know this for a fact, because I was in attendance
and I heard her testify. One of the things that
I think it is important to note in her testimony,
that she brought up the issue of Community
Policing, and that it would be at threat if we
did not end racial profiling, something I have
not heard addressed on this list.

I am not quite sure I understand why we are
focusing on the mayor, but rather the individual
city council members, and asking how they are
focusing to end racial profiling in their
individual wards.

As it has been said many times on this list,
Minneapolis has a weak mayoral system. Thus, the
city council and the community needs to step up
to the plate on the issue of racial profiling.

Aside from Brian Herron, I haven't heard any
other city council person publicly come out
against racial profiling. (However, I may have
been in the wrong place and not heard them or not
read it in the paper.) I have however, heard
council persons criticize the mayor, incorrectly
for not coming out against racial profiling.
