Subject: [Mpls] somalia

-----------

interesting article in the city pages about alleged
discrimination of somalian workers at a local car
rental agency.

i have been waiting for discrimination charges to
start coming from some of the immigrant groups, an am
kind of surprised it has taken so long. there have
been people coming from somalia to the twin cities for
at least 10 years. i guess they are just learning the
system.

So they learned the system. They learned that we have the right to live and work without peoples ignorance and bigotry impeding our progress. It sounds to me like you think their making this up or trying to take advantage of something. How about explaining yourself a little, I wouldn't want to draw the wrong conclusions from your post.

my own opinion is that the twin cities is pretty
progressive in dealing with immigration, and that the
levels of discrimination here are lower than the
national norms.

Your opinion is great, for yourself. In your opinion, its not as bad as it can be so we should be happy with what we have here and not try to make things better? You should be upset that discrimination is a national norm.
