Although I see the concern of students overrunning neighborhood meetings as being a valid one in Ward 2, I do not believe that it is wise to disallow students from these meetings altogether. As Mr. Snyder pointed out, the U of M students are a part of this neighborhood whether anyone likes it or not. I’ve been living here for over two years. I think the students ought to have some sort of representation at neighborhood meetings and whatnot.

And really, there is already a deep enough divide between the students and the non-students around the University. Parking, parties on Como and the such. For the neighborhood associations and groups to more or less align themselves against students or ban them from meetings, is only going to make the problem worse. I know for fact that since the Como neighborhood’s forming of COPS to prevent student house parties, there are students who are going out of their way to show that they can “beat the system.”  Granted, it may not be the most mature way of dealing with the situation, but that’s what happens.
