Does anyone know, is there a standard for screening
people who set up youth forums and other
youth/children programs through neighborhood groups?

I am aware of at least two situations in one south
Minneapolis neighborhood where a person who's had a
lot of trouble with child protective services for very
legitimate reasons has been trying to make his name as
a resident concerned about our youth. Obviously this
man doesn't have the skills to work with youth, yet
seeks funding and recognition to do it at the
neighborhood level. The other situation involves a
neighborhood youth chair with numerous legal issues
like sexual harassment, abuse, etc. Names aren't
important in this discussion (they know who they are).

What is/can be done to check out the background of
people in neighborhood groups who want to work with
our kids??
