Since I have always had a mind like a sieve, I appreciate all those who
jogged my bad memory with whats missing items. Here are some I do
remember.

East Minneapolis Argus (became NorthEaster). A great community newspaper
with some really right wing editorials that would have been perfect if read
by Steve Allen during one of his angry letter routines.

Vocational High School

Schiller grade school

The Gluek brewery and Gluek mansion along the river in NE

The Edgewater Restaurant at Lowry and Marshall (home of the Edgewater Eight
singers) and John Skowronskis Wig and Bottle on the opposite corner.

Johnson Sisters Department Store on Central Avenue and the beautiful Central
Avenue Library.

For real history buffs in NE, how about Helen Wines and Ptaks Dry Goods
stores.

Radio City movie theater downtown (is that the correct name the one with
the red carpeted staircase)

All those music stores with private booths to listen to 45s and LPs

Arion Theater and Sun Drive In on Central Avenue

Powers, Donaldsons, Eklunds, Brown Clothing, Columbia Department Store on
E. Hennepin (anybody else remember that one but me?)

Cedric Adams news show on WCCO TV and his kids talent show on WCCO. radio

Dave Moores midnight news show (name?), a zany look at the local news

Mel Jass late night movies/commercials

Who was the guy who did the G & K cleaners commercials on late night TV?

Steve Cannons late night radio jazz show where, I believe, Ma Linger,
Backlash Larue and the rest of the Little Cannons got their start.

Garrison Keillors early morning radio broadcasts for MPR from St. Johns U.
when MPR was a pup

Harrys and Charlies downtown

Streetcars

Fran Guminga
Bottineau, Ward 3
