Tom Swift's post got me over to yahoo to look at the forums they have in
the Minneapolis regional section. There is this forum above the Loring Men
and Boys forum Swift mentions:

Minneapolis Married and Looking:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/minneapolismarriedandlooking/

This club's intent is for married people that need someone to talk to.
Not necessarily for sex, but perhaps just intimacy whether it is on-line or
other. Feel free to shoot me an on-line message at CBD4.

There isn't too much activity in this forum -- but it has been going since
November 26, 1999.

Then here's a selection of the content on this one (archives are available
to the public):

Re: Meet me in my hotel room:

It's interesting how Swift missed this one -- it's a more active forum with
148 members than the Loring Men and Boys one -- and seems pretty explicit
about focusing on the folks who want to step out on their marriages. But
oh, it's not a gay group -- and Swift wanted to make a few points about
what gay groups are like, so he picked this one. Swift's posts reminds me
of the folks who like to drone on and on about NAMBLA -- and like to
suggest that represents ALL gays.

There is very little activity on this forum. This forum on it's face
doesn't talk about "pics" and also doesn't sound sexual in it's title or
description. I haven't tried to join the group to look at the archives.
So I don't think this information here says that this is a pedophile group.

As far as the whole investigation went, I thought it rather interesting
that around 10% of those arrested were members of the clergy -- and two
were Catholic Priests. I'm sure that 10% of the population isn't members
of the clergy.

I don't know this group -- haven't heard of it and haven't checked the
archives -- but it might NOT have anything to do with sex -- and that could
be the reason that it's not listed in the adult section.

I've seen the descriptions of some of the pornographic groups on yahoo
posted on some other lists I'm on. The Candyman group was trading photos
and videos -- and I think it said "let's share pics and vids" in the
description.

I have no idea whether the group that Swift brought up is a pedophile group
or not -- checking the archives would tell you -- and assuming Swift has
turned this over to the FBI, they can check the archives and quickly tell
on this one. It seems like the authorities -- not this forum -- would be
the appropriate place to report this.

At the same time, church youth groups, the boy scouts and other groups that
draw children also attract pedophiles. That continues to be a problem --
and the BSA policy really does nothing to prevent pedophiles from joining
the scouts as scoutmasters. I still read stories on a regular basis about
scoutmasters molesting boys.

The other piece of this is, where are gay kids to go to find gay adults who
are not going to exploit them?

Now I just went to the adult section of yahoo to check out some of the
groups there -- and I think yahoo just removed all those groups.

Also interesting to note: 10% of the people arrested in that ring were
clergy -- and 2 were catholic priests. These were pedophiles who went
after both boys and girls. Anyway, I'm sure that clergy don't represent
near 10% of the population, so if I was going to use Swift's logic, I'd say
this suggests if folks are really concerned about their kids, maybe they
want to keep them away from church.
