This message is from David Fey, Deputy Mayor of Minneapolis (Seward neighborhood):

There is an email currently circulating that contains misinformation about the 5-Year
Financial Direction now under consideration by the Minneapolis City Council and its
potential impact on the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP). I'm sending this
email to correct that misinformation.

First, the Council is not deciding "whether or not to extend Community Development
funding." The resolution would establish a level for total community development
funding - including the NRP - that can be supported within its property tax policy.
That level is estimated to be approximately $33 million per year for the next five
years.

Second, the resolution under consideration does not propose eliminating the NRP. The
resolution doesn't address NRP at all, except to clarify that NRP funding is part of
total community development funding. Regarding the future of NRP, Bob Miller is
currently chairing a joint City-NRP committee that will make recommendations to the
NRP Policy Board and the City Council about the relationship of the NRP to the City's
newly created Office of Community Planning and Economic Development.
