In regard to Mayor R.T. Rybak, Michelle asks: Has the man done one thing for anyone
except rich folks?

Peter responds: Not while he's been in office.---Peter Schmitz CARAG

--- Begin Message --- Thanks, Margaret!  And I, for one, appreciate hearing about your experiences fighting for the rights of homeless folks.  I believe our experiences have a lot in common.

The issue is not Ms. Kambui per se.  I do know her and know that she has done some good things for the community before she came to the mayor's office.  My issue is what she has done since she got there--particularly the role she played in the federal mediation debacle.  She didn't do it alone--her actions were at the behest of the city administration which tries to front about involving the citizenry but shows great paranoia when it comes to actual community participation in our own government.  It feels a whole like protecting their turf while bowing to the will of the rich and keeping the rest of us at bay.

When SSB was in office, we knew we would not be heard at city hall.  We factored that in to our strategy.  That administration was a lot of things but they weren't phonies like the Rybak crew.  Has the man kept one single campaign promise?  Has the man done one thing for anyone except rich folks?

I hope Michelle Gross continues to voice her views about Federal Mediation and the co-optation of it. I, for one, need to know her perspective on this issue and her experience with how the process was derailed.
I do not know Ms. Kambui personally, so am not invested in making a judgment of her based on personal experience with her.
I am concerned when I hear that an aide/advisor to the Mayor intervened in a process that the Mayor has seemed to make clear he does not support.
The Mayor promised to throw open the doors of City Hall during his campaign.
I do not think he has done that.
