For those of you who mourn that local, non-chain restaurants aren't invited to the Rib Fest, there is good news. City Pages is sponsoring the first Wing Fling Friday night, and all the competitors are local, independant restaurants.
It starts at 5pm at the Minneapolis Farmers' Market and runs until 10pm. The winning vendor (chosen by public vote, unlike Rib Fest) will be crowned the "Wing King." Besides chicken wings, each restaurant will also have two or three other items from their menu for folks to try. Live music features "Trailer Trash" and Adam Levy, formerly of some local group of note which I can't remember now. Admission is free, however, the wings aren't! Alcoholic drinks will be available for those so inclined. If you want to know more, go to citypages.com and click on the Wing Fling logo. --M. G. Stinnett Jordan Neighborhood REMINDERS: 1.
