A local Musician, Andrew Turpening played his song before the film Illegalto
be Homeless last night.
I was in tears listening to it. He interviewed people experiencing
homelessness in Minneapolis and they tell of their experiences as the music
plays.
When the song got to children talking about how scary it is to be homeless,
I felt both incredible sadness and anger.
With all the shame and blame unfairly directed at persons experiencing
homelessness... one group that you cannot muddy the water with blame is
children.

Yes Dean Zimmerman and Gail Dorfman deserve much respect for their clearly
stated outrage at this state of affairs in Minneapolis (I stick to Mpls due to
the nature of this list.)

But they cannot do this alone. It is time for all of us along with our
civic and elected leaders to take action, not just mouth how much they care.
Again, in February I will be roaming City Hall to try to get filmed
interviews with our Mayor, our Chief of Police, city council members and "the
man and
woman on the street" to ask the question "WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO BRING
COMPASSION AND JUSTICE BACK TO THIS CITY?"
