PROPOSED ORDINANCE WOULD OPEN SIDEWALKS FOR COMMERCE
An ordinance that would allow retailers to display their wares on the sidewalk got its first committee hearing today, and all signs point to a protracted debate.

Interesting. It's a short story and a quick read, but I'm wondering what would be the ramifications of the city just modifying the existing ordinance to comply with ADA standards and, perhaps, exploring what citizens would think of such things as hotdog carts and other side-walk traditions from other parts of the country?
I'm somewhat curious how the downtown Minneapolis Farmer's Market handles itself on Thursdays during the summer? Did they get a special dispensation?
For myself, I would be interested in reading about all the arguments both pro- and con- as this develops.
Yours,
