I like both Don and Natalie but it keeps popping up in the list that something foul was done in forcing Don up against Natalie during redistricting.
The new ward boundaries were already known at the time that Don ran in the special election for the seat that Joe Biernat had to give up in the 3rd ward. It was known that when this (2005) election rolled around Don would no longer be in the 3rd ward. It is sad that this forces two very good people into a head to head contest at a time when we need more minority voices in government and not less but it is not the result of outside influence. Don knew what he was getting into and that he would have to face another incumbent if he chose not to move. There is nothing wrong with Don's decision to remain in his house or in his wish to continue serving on the city council. These are decisions he is perfectly entitled to make. So let's stop complaining about the terrible consequences of redistricting and looking for victims of some kind of nefarious plot and start debating the qualities of the two candidates and why they deserve or don't deserve to serve us in Ward 5. Right now those are the only issues that matter. Steven M Nelson Willard Hay http://citizenshipchronicles.blogspot.com/ http://minutemenworldwide.blogspot.com/ Get UP! Get OUT! & GET INVOLVED!!!
