What I wonder is what is the reason so many people are not voting. I hear a lot of opinions on why, and god only knows I have my own ideas and opinions.
But the only way more people will vote is for the powers that be to correct the reasons that are keeping them from voting. Is it access? Apathy? Ignorance? Laziness? What are the real reasons for low turnout? Now for some off the wall ideas (or maybe not). How about IRV to give voters reduced fear of throwing vote away or it not really counting? How about 'None of the above' on the ballot? How about 80% voter turnout or the election is somehow invalid? How about a tax break for those of us that do vote? How about deporting non-voters to an island someplace? Ron Leurquin Nokomis East REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
