When I saw the demonstration of the shotspotter system, the question was asked 
about its ability to differentiate between fireworks and gunfire. The people 
presenting the demonstration said it can differentiate between gunfire and 
fireworks with the exception of M80's. They are detected as gunfire. The 
shotspotter is also supposed to be able to determine what type of gun is being 
used in the shooting. The cameras are directed by the sensor that picks up the 
gunfire, not independently. The sensors and cameras are not in the same place. 
The sensors are waterproof and weather resistant between 130 degrees above zero 
and 60 degrees below zero.
