It is not cherry-picking. At the CITY level, for city-level offices, the GP is second. For several house races it has been second. It is a grass-roots party.
The main problem for higher office is that so far only one Green has been elected to ANY state legislature in any of the 50 states - over 7000 seats, one Green, in Maine. Everyone is worried about "wasting" a vote, and so voting for a lot of dead-wood DPers instead, thus guaranteeing that change will take only that many more years. The GP is grassroots, and fearful voters keep it to the city level. I suspect the reason some people may wish to represent the GP as third even at the city level is that they wish to strip it of power and push a right-wing agenda, support privatization of parks, etc. The numbers won't support it. --David Shove Roseville On Sun, 13 Nov 2005, Shawn A.
