I would suggest that there are other reasons for light rail beyond just "to be faster than cars" I actually have not ridden the LRT due to where I live and where it currently goes - so I asked a colleague I know who regularly takes it from the Fort Snelling park and ride lot (he lives in Hastings) to downtown Minneapolis. He told me the trip time is about the same as if he'd driven. But where he saves is on: - parking (both time to locate a spot and cost of parking) - gas - sanity (not fighting through congested traffic) Now, if a Central Corridor line were installed, I'd actually have use for that one - I could ride it to work, which would provide me with all of the savings that my colleague currently enjoys via the Hiawatha line, plus possibly some time savings. Even if the trip takes longer than my 20 minute commute by car, I can still spend that time reading or doing something more productive than just sitting behind the wheel. And I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take the 60 minutes plus that my current commute by bus takes. Mark Snyder Windom Park REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
