There are probably several reasons, threads, performance, etc. but our reason is because we are in the process of implementing Clustering and we have a gateway Qmgr for those Qmgrs that are slow on the up-take and are still in distributed queueing mode. Because we run many Qmgrs on the same AIX box and the new and old target Qmgrs are running while migration slowly evolves, we can't have the same port for the old and new. We are also not in a position to force, diplomatically or otherwise, our clients to change port numbers. Hope all this makes sense. Insofar as the -f option is concerned, I don't like using the force option on any command if it can be helped. endmqlsr should work as advertised. I want to find out why it isn't. Thanx for your input. BB.

Have you tried the -f option? -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Barclay [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 24 February 2003 06:19 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: endmqlsr We have more than 1 listener running per Qmgr on AIX. We have a script that refreshes our Qmgrs by shutting them down and restarting each on request. "endmqlsr -m QMGR" doesn't seem to shut down all listeners but leaves at least one up and when we restart the Qmgr we get an error saying MQ can't bind to the port in question because the listener is still running, that is it never shut down. The book says endmqlsr shuts down ALL listerners. This doesn't seem to be true. Anyone having this problem? We are running V5.2 on AIX. BB.
