Thanks Tim.

I tend to agree with you but our "Rebuild project" was billed as a replacement of hardware and an opportunity to clean up the environments.  Management suggests that substantial software upgrades are supposed to be avoided.  That's why we can easily get away with a CSD upgrade but perhaps not a base version upgrade.

Subject: Re: MQSeries 5.2.1 CSD06 for W2K - Is it ready for Production ?

Must admit if it was me I'd be going MQ 5.3 with CSD01 and its end of
service date in 2004.

Don't forget that 5.2 end of service date is 12-31-2003, only 9 months
away!

     Matt,

Do you folks have a plan for 5.3 ?
In addition, if it (5.2.1 w/CSD 6 or CSD 5) passes your validation
test for each of the environment, then what difference does it make ?
What is your company policy for product upgrading ? You already know
5.3 is there, now it just a matter of time that you need to move
     there.
Perhaps, 5.2.1 w/CSD06 will hold you longer at 5.2 level.
The bottom line is you don't want to this upgrade too often to hold
     down the cost.

Does this make any sense ?

           MQSeries 5.2.1 CSD06 for W2K

           Hello,

We are currently going through a process to rebuild all our
MQSeries Hub servers.   Prod, Test and Development.  We are
           currently running MQ5.2 CSD03 on W2K.

As part of the rebuild we will be going to a later CSD, the
           question is:

Should we go to 5.2.1 CSD06, which has only been available for
           2 weeks
           OR
Should we go to 5.2.1 CSD05, which has been available for a
           much longer period

I rang IBM support to ask their opinion, and they very nicely
went through the case for both sides, but didn't really favour
either.  The guy I spoke with told me he had not heard of any
problems with CSD06, but being only 2 weeks old, that doesn't
           mean much.

So, has anyone else deployed 5.2.1 CSD06 into production, if so
do you have any feedback that you would like to share?

I would also like to hear any general comments on going to the
latest service level, is it a good thing?

           Thanks in advance,
