Running version 1.2 of MQSeries on MVS. He said qmgr came

down and he tried to restart it and got a 5C6 and a Reason Code of

00D94001 and it said something like " page set 1 could not be

expanded " so I think he defined a larger page set and copied it over

and tried to restart the qmgr and got a 6C6 with a Reason Code of

        00D96032 and Message ID of CSQV086E .

       SOLUTION:

He was able to use the resetpage, and redefine his bsds and logs

and then the queue manager came up and he did not loose anything.

The problem cust encountered was to do with "long unit of

work". For example, an application starts a unit of work without

committing, the unit of work is logged as usual. In the meantime,

other activities in the MQ subsystem will gradually build up archive

logs. The BSDS, which holds the info of archive logs, has a field

MAXARCH (maximum archive logs) and the default value is 500. When the

archive logs has gone over 500, the info on archive logs will wrap,

overwriting the details starting from the very first one. The

cust somehow had a very long unit of work outstanding and the

archive log info of that unit of work in the BSDS had been

overwritten. I believe the qmgr abended twice.

        1. When cust tried to stop the queue manager, qmgr attempted

to backout that long unit of work but couldn't find the log. The qmgr

abended 5C6 with reason code 00D94001.

        2. When cust tried to restart the qmgr, qmgr attempted to

find the log detail to backout that long unit of work but couldn't

find it. The qmgr abended 6C6 with reason code 00D96032.

Hello!
Our queue manager on Mainframe (5.2) abended yesterday with an SVC dump.
( 5C6)

After going through the logs and looking at error message description,
looked to me that the log dataset got corrupted.
The user id appeared on the dump(ABC12) was running a batch job putting
persistant messages on to the queue.
(1000 msgs 100k in size each)

Can anyone tell me what can cause the logdatset to get corrupted?

Thanks, Prince
