It's the MQ-IMS Bridge (the OTMA Client code in MQ) that is
putting the message to the DLQ.

Cheers...

I am 5.3.

It does work with regular queues, just not OTMA queues.

I wonder if the OTMA actually puts the messages to the DLQ, and not the QM.
And its the OTMA that is not respecting the discard option, while the QM
actually does???

Peter

what MQ version are you using on z/OS ? I certainly recall that it wasn't
supported on MVS
when it first was introduced on distributed.... but maybe support has been
slipped in 'recently' -
5.2 or 5.3 ?

Looking at the 5.3 manuals.. there is certainly no reference to
MQRO_DISCARD_MSG
not being supported on the mainframe - so it should work fine at that level.

Darren

I have been trying to use this option when sending messages into my OTMA
bridge queues, but it is not working.

Is it supported on z/OS?

I seem to remember reading somewhere this option is not supported for the
mainframe, but now I cannot find that reference.

This option does seem to work on regular z/OS MQSeries queues. If I mess
with a regular local queue to force message to the DLQ, the discard option
works just fine and the QM does not put messages there. But any forced
problems with an OTMA bridge queue still cause messages to the DLQ,
regardless of the MQRO_DISCARD_MSG Report Option.
