Just my opinion but with today's DASD AKA Shark and such , you really do not have a single volume any longer. I say you can use striped volumes but I don't think it makes a big difference either way. It sounds like your SMG needs more to do. My storage management group wants us to use DASD Stripping on our archive logs. I have some real concerns about this and was wondering if any OS/390 users were doing this and if so any problems or is it working well. Currently I have 6 logs set defined at 850 cylinders. It use to be that you wanted your logs on different volumes and spread out so that you did not hit any one volume at the same time with and archive running and writing to the same volume. Has this changed or not? Any comments would be welcomed. Thanks Walt Walter H.
