Title: WMQ on z/OS platform
Rao, we normally only recycle the queue managers when the system is IPLed. Usually, it's several months between IPLs.

Subject: WMQ on z/OS platform

Hello to z/OS WMQ community

I am looking for a "optimal" re-cycling period of MQ Manager started tasks on the z/OS platform (we haven't gone to Clusters and Queue sharing groups) and currently our Queue managers are running non-stop for more than 2 months.

First of all, is there any such thing called "optimal" - if not what are the benefits / disadvantages of recycling it daily / weekly / monthly / Operating system IPL time/ wait until MQ Manager crashes.

Given my past CICS/DB2/MQ experiences (hanging tasks, unreleased memories etc.) I prefer to see it daily if possible, and if not atleast once a week.

Over to you guys for the support / bashing of my theory.

Cheers
