Title: Queue Attributes - Shared or Exclusive

Hi,

We had a queue defined with the following attributes:

Permit shared access  . . . :   N  Y=Yes, N=No
Default share option  . . . :   E  E=Exclusive, S=Shared

There was one app that used this queue. Everything was fine. Another app was moved in that used this queue. What happened was messages from this app were sent from AIX to z/OS but the process that gets kicked off was delayed 30-40 minutes. I assumed that this had to do with these options, so I changed them to permit shared access. Things started working after this. My question is how do these attributes affect the queue ? Is it like DISP=(OLD,KEEP) on a dataset ? or does the first process that opens the queue own the queue exclusively. Any info would be great.

Thanks
Dean
