Lawrence,

i used this info when migrating our clusters , it is helpfull overview.

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0605_vanstone/0605_vanstone.html

we don't have 5.2 queue managers but we have done migration in different
tiers in 2 ways.

1. we migrated repository to v6 first leaving the rest at previous version.
2. we added v6 queue managers leaving repository running 5.3.

both times it seem to work ok.

as far as i understand - there should not be an issue to have v6 as part of
"prev. version cluster" as long as you don't expect to use new v6 channels
and cluster priority options, but 5.2 seems pretty old and i'm not sure how
much regression testing IBM has done.

One of the way - would be to try it by creating another full repository on
5.2 and try it with v6 ? Having said that - if it is only 2 months - would
using distributed queueing be an option ? all depends on role of new v6
qmgr in your environment, criticality and risks......

I have a cluster with approximately 8 queue managers. Unfortunately, my
full repositories are still running MQ 5.2.8. I have (believe it or not) a
5.3 queue manager that is a participant. I have a requirement to add
another queue manager to the cluster. However, this queue manager will be
running MQ V6.

I will be on unsupported grounds for another couple of months. My question
is this: can a V6 queue manager participate in a cluster where the full
repositories are running V5.2?
