If I remember correctly, the way it was explained to me. These hold the init 
scripts for the software you want to start. So they determine the order in 
which you start stuff. System supporting stuff first and the application stuff. 
Inside the directories things and be arranged in starting order by either the 
naming convention (the best way I have seen to do it) or by specifying the 
start order in a defined list.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two directories as they relate 
to rebooting a Sun Solaris 9.0 server and executing start/stop scripts for MQ?
