I run MRTG on Redhat Linux and use cron to schedule the jobs. I redirect the output of the cron job by adding the following at the end of the entry in the crontab file:
&>/dev/null I take it off if I need to check on something, and I also have an entry in the /etc/aliases file so all mail to root goes to my real e-mail address.
