Hello, I'm using the maximum outgoing rate value from mrtg's servername.ethN.log file for some scripts. Since I've switched to a Gbit interface (eth1 in my case) I'm now wondering about the values in my eth1.log.
While dstat is showing a good use of the GBit nic: $ dstat -n -net/total- recv send 3002k 117M 2916k 118M 2975k 117M 3014k 118M 2972k 118M 2948k 118M 2932k 118M 2974k 118M *and* MRTG in his graph output also shows a reasonable value for the outgoing traffic for that interface: In 3000.9 kB/s (2.4%) Out 123.6 MB/s (98.9%) I don't see the correct value in the fifth column in the eth1.log file: 1257363901 690674126 2228132219 1257363901 3004383 8681708 3004383 8681708 1257363602 2989656 8245986 2989656 8245986 1257363600 2989746 8247521 3016685 8706523 1257363300 3016678 8706326 3016685 8706523 1257363000 3015662 8679649 3015754 9063705 1257362700 3002002 9061049 3015522 9063705 1257362400 3015509 8268720 3015522 8723074 1257362100 3011434 8722569 3011856 8723074 1257361800 2948761 8647491 2971605 8681293 1257361500 2971760 8682755 3018258 9119899 How does mrtg interpret the 5th column? How does it calculate the 123,6MB/s shown in the graph out of the 8681708 bytes in the log? MRTG version 2.16.2. My interfaces.cfg for the specific interface: Target[localhost_3]: 3:pub...@localhost:::::2 SetEnv[localhost_3]: MRTG_INT_IP="12.34.56.78" MRTG_INT_DESCR="eth1" MaxBytes[localhost_3]: 125000000 Title[localhost_3]: Traffic Analysis for eth1 Thanks, Cheers Alex _______________________________________________ mrtg mailing list [email protected] https://lists.oetiker.ch/cgi-bin/listinfo/mrtg
