Thanks for the reply John,
I do have some calculated controls on my main (invoice) form, which
reference a sub form (parts used, prices, volumes etc)
I'm using MS-Access 2000, from Office 2000 premium developer edition with no
service pack.

Would using the version that comes woth Office 2003 Pro be better?
We have copies of this ready to install after one of our machines is
relieved of its DOS program and can be upgraded to WinXP

Keith-

I vaguely remember that this problem is caused in certain versions of Access
by either a calculated control on an outer form that references fields on a
subform or vice-versa. What version of Access do you have, and what Service
Pack? (Choose About from the Help menu.)

Subject: [ms_access] Flickering fields.

Hi all,
I have a problem with some of my databases where some fields will
flicker or not display their data until the mouse is moved over them.
The mouse only has to be moved across certain fields, Without the any
buttons being clicked.
My last masterpiece has a couple of forms which are seriously afflicted
this way.

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
