I noticed if I display a hyperlink field in a textbox with the "is hyperlink" set to false, the # characters appear. If you change the "is hyperlink" property of the textbox to true, the #'s disappear and the text becomes underlined/blue and is clickable.
Check the field design properties of the field in the table, the "Is hyperlink" property of the textbox to ensure they are appropriate.
