Hey all,

I'm Aravind, an engineering student and an amateur musician. I've looked at
the jianpu notation idea and this proposal is an inspiration from that.
I've been learning vocals and violin in the Carnatic system (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnatic_music).
If you are not acquainted, the notation in this system is written as a
series of seven notes (much like DoReMi), for example -
http://www.shivkumar.org/music/varnams/varaveena-geetham.htm. I've taught
myself the western notation to be able to read and write compositions, but
I find it difficult after using the other notation for so long.

So, I wish to create a plugin or integrate an option that allows
the trans-coding of the staff notation into the swara-notation along with
being able to write the compositions in the swara. The challenges also
cover transposing to the required scale (or shruti) (as is already there),
and the additive meter time signatures (called tala). The project can help
in bringing the patrons of carnatic (and hindustani) to MuseScore as there
hasn't been any software for this purpose.

My prior experience with MuseScore is close to nothing (shamefully), but I
have used other notation softwares like Sibelius and tablature editors like
GP and TuxGuitar. I've done a project and working on another one using
C++/Qt - I'm by far a web developer with PHP, python experience.

I'm sorry to come in this late, should have done this earlier. Really
interested in working for MuseScore!

Thanks!

Regards,
