Agreed. I brought the subject up because I knew there was at one time code already implemented and ready to be merged, so I was hopeful it could still make it in for 2.0. Now that I am better understanding the issues with that implementation and am seeing it isn't the best solution to the lyric problem specifically, I realize that solving the problem "for real" means new work, and it can definitely wait. And actually, as I experiment with these type of scores, I'm finding ways of working with 2.0 that are already a significant improvement over 1.3 in this respect. In 1.3, if you assigned separate lyrics to voice 1 & 2, they were laid out as separate verses, so even if you moved the voice 1 lyrics above the staff manually, you were stuck with the extra space allocated for them below the staff. And while it's easy enough to select all voice 1 syllables to move in 1.3, the Inspector provides a better way of actually doing the move than anything in 1.3. The only trick will be in making the selection, since the voice 1 & 2 lyrics will overlap if you don't move the voice 1 lyrics before entering the voice 1 lyrics, but I think one can learn to work with this. BTW, I still haven't really investigated the new plugin framework so I don't know what it might be capable of. But ideally, it would be possible to write a plugin that would work on a selection, identify all voice 1 syllables in that range, and assign them a new Y offset.
