Hello everyone,
I'm Kerem Goksel, a freshman from Stanford University studying computer
science and an amateur pianist/composer. When I heard about the GSoC, and
saw a music project such as MuseScore on the list, I was really excited to
apply.

I have checked the ideas page and I am interested in working on proofing
tools for lyrics. However, I wanted to ask a few questions before delving
deeper into it.

First, I do not have a lot of programming experience outside my classes.
Even though I use C++ for my classes and I will be taking further C++
classes until the summer, I do not know how different/harder coding outside
a class for an already existing project will be and I am curious how long
would it take to adapt to this new coding environment.

Second, even though I am quite familiar with C++, I haven't much experience
with Qt(apart from using Qt creator for coding) and I wonder how much of
extra difficulty that would cause, or if that should discourage me from
applying. I am willing to accept a challenge and put effort, though.

And finally, how should I proceed before submitting my final application?

Thanks so much for your help!
