I've been seeing a slowdown in score loads for some time that had me concerned something was drastically wrong with layout. It finally got bad enough - like literally taking 20 seconds or more to load a one measure score - for me to investigate further, and I discovered it is not about layout at all, but thumbnail generation. And not for the score I am loading, but for *other* scores, I guess from the recent list - I have a couple failry large 1.3 scores in my recents list.
OK, I now remember seeing some previous discussion of the topic, but can we revisit this? Why do we need to generate thumbnails for *other* scores every time we load a score? And we do we need to keep regenerating the thumbnails over and over? I don't know how, but a thumbnail shows in Start Center right away, so somehow we seem to have something usable. I also wonder if maybe we could figure out a way to generate a thumbnail without needing to the read an entire 30 pages score, *and* generate all the parts. -- View this message in context: http://dev-list.musescore.org/Load-time-thumbnail-generation-tp7579081.html Sent from the MuseScore Developer mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Year.
