There is no RMS in SCOM 2012.

There are just management servers.

One of the management servers might have the "RMSE" (root management server
emulator) role, but that is not anywhere near as significant as a RMS in SCOM
2007.

As to all management servers going gray... the typical reason would be an
availability issue with the All Management Servers resource pool. Most common
cause is an issue connecting to the database. There is a management server
state view in the console which will show the management servers as red, and
health explorer will determine root cause. What is it?

Subject: [msmom] Mgmt servers all grey

I have installed SCOM 2012 SP1 RU2 in the lab and have been running for a
couple weeks and today all of the mgmt. servers are greyed out.

I have:
RMS
2 mgmt servers
SQL DB server
Reports server

I have 2 domain controllers with agents on them that are fine it just appears
to be with all 3 mgmt servers. Curious to see if anyone else has experienced
this?
