Have you considered a computer running Visio and the Visio plugin for SCOM?
That's the solution that I am currently using.
Regarding the laptop issues, I believe you need to address that to you
AD administrator, maybe a specific OU for that laptop where the GPOs
that are causing you trouble are disbled.
