The gurus can say better than I, but in CVS gcc there is a 3.1 version,
which the docs say is unsupported. Reasons are given. Try it, test it,
report good-bad news.
I just downloaded gcc-core-3.0.tar.gz from gnu.org and use that, tho my
main compiler is 3.2.
