Thanks, unfortunately I wasn't clear enough, I have both serial and parallel
programmers from TI, however I'm really only interested in getting the
parallel port solution going with Insight-gdb at the moment.

I'm guessing the answer to 3) is something like "jump *0xFFFE" in the
console window, but wondered if thats correct.

as far as 1) is concerned I can now add that the download is nearly always
very very slow within the insight(windowed) environment. From the command
line (gdb started with --nw) it seems to be ok (using "target remote
localhost:2000" followed by load command). Any suggestions?

to 3): you can reset e. g. with

python /usr/local/msp430/pybsl/bsl.py --comport=0 -r

if you have installed pybsl.
