The 03 06 release exhibits the segmentation issue. The earlier release
02 10 doesn't . ( see www.mikrocontroller.net for more info )
I and others have reported this bug a while back and actually used the bug
reporting system that  you wisely chose to avoid.
The knee jerk reaction is to blame the user for his choice of operating
system namely win 98 or winME. It is like having your Ford break down and
the mechanic you call  says you ought to have bought  a Chevy. It does
nothing to address the problem. I say 03 06 is a defective release as far as
WIN 98 and Win ME are concerned. Frankly I don't care if it is defective for
all the good reasons  this board will tell you..
People need to know 03 06   is defective so if they have Win 98 or WinME
they can avoid it. I have no problem if mspgcc doesn't support 98 or ME now
or in the future just be upfront about it. If they are only going to support
Chevy's they
need to say so.
