I'm evaluating these tools for a class I'm teaching next year (the other
contender is the avr).
I've tried out the latest gdb on windows with a mps430-P123M board from
olimex.
When executing to a line or stepping at the "C" level, execution seems
extremely slow.
Coincidentally, when I first installed gdbproxy it seemed be hardwired
in debug mode
and I noticed a huge amount of chatter when executing to a line (every
machine instruction ?).
Does this seem like merely a configuration issue, or is the JTAG
interface for GDB actually
very slow ? I did install the packet size macros and other hints from
this mailing list,
but the performance didn't change perceptibly.
