Hi Sergey and Steven!
I just d/l'ed 2.18 and patched it accordingly, but applying the 2.17
patch causes one hunk of the two files to fail. Upon inspecting the
source code, the code being patched into looks right though. Is this a
problem? Just started compiling the binutils now...
Just to clarify:
- there is two patches for binutils-2.17 in cvs:
binutils-14x1-20x1-20x2-20x3-22x4-42x-42x0-461x.patch
binutils-2.17-msp430x24x-msp430x26x.patch
- the next patches is the same as two above, but for binutils-2.18:
binutils-2.18-14x1-20x1-20x2-20x3-22x4-42x-42x0-461x.patch
binutils-2.18-msp430x24x-msp430x26x.patch
- and patch for ld script templates, which is the same for 2.17 and 2.18,
since files to be patched have not changed between 2.17 and 2.18:
binutils-ld_scripts.patch
I just tested: applying
binutils-2.18-14x1-20x1-20x2-20x3-22x4-42x-42x0-461x.patch
binutils-2.18-msp430x24x-msp430x26x.patch
binutils-ld_scripts.patch
to binutils-2.18 sources result no fails. Maybe you tried to apply 2.17 patches
to 2.18 sources?
Is it still necessary to roll back the gcc CVS to about a week or can I
now use the HEAD without problems?
No, it's not necessary - use HEAD.
Good luck!
Sergey.
