So this is a Windows "command prompt", right?

I get the following:

C:\mingw\bin>mingw-get install msys-libtool
mingw-get: *** WARNING *** C:\mingw\var/lib/mingw-get/data/profile.xml: user
configuration file missing
mingw-get: *** INFO *** C:\mingw\var/lib/mingw-get/data/defaults.xml: trying
system default configuration
mingw-get: *** FATAL *** C:\mingw\var/lib/mingw-get/data/defaults.xml:
cannot load configuration

Note the mixture of forward and reverse slashes in the error message. The
xml file has forward slashes; %R on a Windows command prompt is going to
expand to something with reverse slashes, I think.

Or is this some difference between Windows 7 and Windows XP? (I'm running
the latter, XP Pro, 32 bit).

I'd love to replicate this on Win XP Pro 32 bit.

Thanks for the details, anyway, for those of us with the "more modern"
operating system.
