I have finally gotten around to trying this out again. I have been using a
pre-compiled mspgcc4 until now. Maybe I should also point out that this is a
fresh install of fink and no other packages hav been installed.

First thing I noticed:
While trying to d/l binutils I get the folllowing.

    curl --connect-timeout 30 -f -L -A 'fink/0.31.3' -P - -O
http://distfiles.sjc.ca.us.finkmirrors.net/binutils-2.21.1.tar.bz2

The checksum of the file is incorrect. The most likely cause for this is
a corrupted or incomplete download

    Downloading the file "binutils-2.21.1.tar.bz2" failed.

Doing a little checking with md5sum:
  bde820eac53fa3a8d8696667418557ad /sw/src/binutils-2.21.1.tar.bz2

Downloaded a few versions of binutils from http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/binutils/.
  2b9dc8f2b7dbd5ec5992c6e29de0b764 binutils-2.20.1a.tar.bz2
  bde820eac53fa3a8d8696667418557ad binutils-2.21.1.tar.bz2
  bde820eac53fa3a8d8696667418557ad binutils-2.21.1a.tar.bz2

None of these match the MD5 sum a22801a9cad45c85e9ff6afc10537d72 ! So I
threw the binutils-2.21.1.tar.bz2 into /sw/src and will continue try to
compile.

Again thanks for your great work enabling some Mac MSP430 action.
Mike

All the data continuously generated in your IT infrastructure contains a
definitive record of customers, application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. Business sense. IT sense. Common sense.
