Well, if you get in trouble because of 256 bytes out of 55kiB, then you should
definitely look for another device.
If you don't need the DAC, then the 5418A (128kiB flash, 16kiB ram)
could be a good choice. And you can have the 5435 or 5437 as pin-to-pin
replacement with 192 and 256k.
However, the 1612 is IMHO the MSP with the largest flash below 64k. 
The 54xx has only 41k in the lower 64k range.

But if you want to be nosy, you can count the 256 bytes of information 
flash to the 54.75kIB of main flash and then the 1612 has 55kiB in total :)
