I'm going to play around with it, but I think you could create a restart
application and insert it in the dependency chain wherever you want the
restart.  Here is what I'm thinking:

Restart application that has detection criteria of "C:\temp.temp" exists,
user experience reboot behavior "Determine behavior based on return codes"
and the application content is a batch file that runs:

Echo 1 > C:\Temp.Temp
Shutdown -r
Exit /b 1641

In my testing, if a dependency returns 1641 everything stops and waits for
a reboot, but ConfigMgr won't initiate a reboot. If you manually restart,
the computer comes back up and the application chain continues error free.

I haven't tested this yet. If this works, I have to figure out where in the
chain I can remove the temp file without breaking it.

So, do you all think this would work?
